(Click for Biography)

Dr. Shane Wentz is a recognized transformation leader with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and instilling Gemba (go and see) leadership as a cultural norm. His leadership style fosters trust, unites teams, and inspires stakeholders through a deep understanding of operations and a relentless focus on results. Nationally recognized for his expertise in leadership and operational excellence, Shane has helped organizations save hundreds of millions of dollars while guiding them through transformative change.

A sought-after speaker and thought leader, Shane has been featured on several industry-leading podcasts, including Make It Right, Manufacturing for Leaders, Lean Solutions, and One Hour of Greatness. He has also delivered keynote presentations and led workshops at conferences and seminars worldwide.

Shane's journey began in the U.S. Army, where he served as an intelligence analyst before transitioning to Human Capital Management. He played a critical role in workforce development, planning, training, and operations across the Army’s global footprint, including two deployments to the Middle East. His leadership was recognized at the highest levels—he was named the Army’s top Human Capital Manager by the Secretary of the Army and inducted into the prestigious Audie Murphy Club, an honor reserved for the top 1% of enlisted leaders. During his military career, Shane also became a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, later making history as the first enlisted Soldier to earn Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.

After leaving the military, Shane held various leadership roles at Siemens, Nike, and Radial (formerly eBay Enterprises), where he led large-scale transformation initiatives that broke through comfort zones, energized change, and created high-performance cultures. In 2019, he and his wife, Susie, founded A Change in Latitude Consulting, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Woman-Owned Small Business. Their boutique consulting firm partners with clients big and small around the world to “smash silos” and drive measurable business impact. The firm specializes in continuous improvement, project management, leadership development, and both short- and long-term consulting partnerships. They have a unique partnership with the University of South Florida, developing and delivering world class online and in-person training courses to both open-enrollment students and companies around the world in continuous improvement, leadership and project management.

Outside of work, Shane has been married to Susie for 25 years, and they are parents to a ten-year-old son, Tommy, and a Golden Doodle named Ries. An avid runner, he has completed eight marathons and enjoys traveling the world and spending time with his family.

This class is an introduction to the world of project management and will give students vital information and insights into seven basic areas of project management. Through an interactive discussion of the topics of a planning process group, defining the scope and creating a work breakdown structure, project scheduling management, project cost management, project quality management, and project resource management, you will come away with the foundation by which to build upon in order to be an effective leader in the dynamic world of project management.

The class will consist of live online lectures in addition to applying practical applications learned throughout the course in the form of elements of a project.
