Full course description

Parents of Gamers:

Do you want to…

  • learn more about Esports?
  • experience camp with your child?
  • learn what “gg,” “Twitch,” “meta,” or “Steam,” mean?
  • learn the language your children speak with their friends?

Then, this USF Parents Esports Camp is for you! Parents will learn the basics of esports along with business and careers in the esports industry. Just as important, parent campers will build relationships with other parents of gamers and gain a community within this virtual camp.

Supported by esports experts, the faculty of the Vinik Sport and Entertainment Management program within the Muma College of Business, parents will learn about the fastest growing entertainment industry in the world and best practices in navigating this virtual world. The goal of the Parents of Gamers Camp is to provide insight and resources so parents can confidently talk to their children about gamers and make informed decisions. Plus, parents can bond over an activity their children are extremely passionate about.

Our parent’s virtual camp will be held at lunchtime (noon – 1 pm EST) and right after traditional work hours (5:00 – 6:00 pm EST) to accommodate your busy schedules.

This is a great opportunity to bond with you children on their preferred turf!

While your children are learning the business of esports and playing video games, you will simultaneously attend camp to learn:

  • Esports game strategy
  • Group dynamics and game play
  • Sportsmanship and healthy community game play
  • Business of esports
  • Basic marketing and business planning
